Annie Berlin

Annie Berlin

Annie came to California in 1978 as a congressional staffer. Later she worked her way up inside the marketing communications departments of more than one high tech company, eventually acting as an account supervisor in one of the world’s largest ad agencies, and then building her own independent marketing communications firm. In 2005, she switched careers by earning a master’s degree in public health with a concentration in maternal and child health.

She began her new career as an advocate for children and families as the communications director for George Mark Children’s House, the nation’s first free-standing children’s hospice. Coming to Monterey from the SF Bay Area, she served as a volunteer at Packard Children’s Hospital for 27 years and currently is an 8-year volunteer at the Community Hospital. She comes to the Hospice Giving Foundation from her prior experience as the board chair for Coastal Kids Home Care.

Annie did her undergraduate work at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, graduating with a B.S. in Journalism and earned her M.P.H. at the University of Washington, School of Community Medicine and Public Health. She lives in Sand City with her husband Frank, and is a “bonus mom” to his three children and six grandchildren.

“Philanthropy has always been a part of my personal and professional life. In every instance, I have contributed my time, money, and advice to the service of families in the communities where I work, live, and play. I am honored to be part of the Hospice Giving Foundation and am committed to raising the awareness of hospice and palliative care across the life cycle.”
