CEO Message: April 2022
Gathering. Connecting. Believing. These simple, yet strong words shed light on the inner workings of Hospice Giving Foundation this year.
Gathering. Being with you, our supporters, brings meaning to our work. We are so happy to be back together for the Scramble on April 26th. The energy of our supporters has been uplifting and gratifying. So many people came forward, fabulous volunteers on the committee, generous donors, and finally our golfers eager to spend a day with friends in support of compassion and dignity. This special fundraising event has been part of our history and we are so grateful to all who make it possible.
Connecting. One of the many challenges of the pandemic was connecting with the important people in our lives. Understanding that each person must move forward in their own way, we worked to reestablish how our team works while reengaging with supporters and providers. While many of us reference this shared pandemic experience, it has been different for everyone. To appreciate how someone is managing takes intentionality, listening, and patience. I am so proud of our board and staff who approach relationship building with care and thoughtfulness. They are dedicated to ensuring all our efforts–supporter conversations, collaboratives, outreach, education, and grants–are mission focused and aligned with community needs. We recently mailed our annual report that highlights some of this work. I hope you take the time to read through it and as always, we welcome your feedback.
Believing. A big concept that conjures thoughts of trust, confidence, and acceptance. Hospice Giving Foundation believes in living fully and dying peacefully. We believe in our community to demonstrate compassion, responsiveness, and kindness during a time of unfathomable suffering from a devastating war and the ongoing pandemic. Believing in our grantee agencies comes easily having observed, for years, their dedication to providing the best care possible for those with serious illnesses and through end of life. We believe conversations are important and planning is necessary. Believing in one another and our shared vision for understanding and acceptance about end of life drives us every day.
We look forward to gathering with you in a few weeks. If we don’t see you at the Scramble, let’s make a point of connecting sooner rather than later! And, most importantly, thank you to all our supporters who believe in Hospice Giving Foundation. You inspire and motivate us to realize our mission and strengthen care for our community.
With warm regards,
Siobhan Greene
