CEO Message: March 2021
Dear Friends,
Partial to torch songs with a feisty edge, I’ve always loved Dolly Parton’s song that starts with… “Here you come again / Just when I’ve begun to get myself together / You waltz right in the door / Just like you’ve done before…” Admittedly not all the lyrics apply, but when we think about our process of re-entry, it sure feels like the first few hit the mark.
As the crisis phase of the pandemic eases and the vaccination process expands, we’ll all be looking at how to come together and how to readjust. It will be a combination of what we’ve been waiting for and figuring out how to come together since most of us have adjusted to our changed lives. We’ll need to hold space for strong emotions and the differences in each person’s approach. Hugs will start to happen again. Tears will likely be right behind them.
Today’s message from Hospice Giving Foundation is simple. Go easy with each other. Be patient. Find ways to share love and thoughtfulness. Since I started this with Dolly, I’ll close with another written by Dolly Parton in 2020. This one really does fit. It’s called “When Life is Good Again.” Look it up, it really has a beautiful message. Here’s an excerpt:
When life is good again
I’ll be a better friend
A bigger person when
Life is good again
More thoughtful than I’ve been
I’ll be so different then
More in the moment when
Life is good again
I’ll open up my heart
And let the whole world in
I’ll try to make amends
When life is good again
We’ve been brought to our knees
We’ve been so ill at ease
There are no guarantees
But you know life goes on
This too shall pass away
Bring new and different days
We need to change our ways
And right our wrongs
Let’s open up our hearts
And let the whole world in
Let’s try to make amends
When life is good again
Thank you for your ongoing support. Wishing you our very best,
