The Aliotti family has been honoring departed love ones at the Tree of Life Celebration for more than ten years. “My wife and I, and our four sons, have been donating for over ten years― honoring my wife’s grandparents and aunt, as well as both my parents. We come to the celebration as a family. Seeing their names listed in the Tree of Life tributes makes us feel like we’re still sharing our holiday season with them. It is an honor every year to be part of the tree lighting. We look forward to continue being a part of the Hospice Giving Foundation family” says John Aliotti.

A 25-foot tall tree made of hundreds of white lights dedicated to a loved one, will shine brightly each night throughout holiday season atop the Monterey Marriott Hotel. The tree lighting ceremony begins at 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey and features musical performances by the Defense Language Institute Joint Services Choir, the Carmel Middle School Chamber Choir, and Dale Meyer reading poetry.

“We come to the celebration as a family.”

Dale who attended the Tree of Life Celebration for the first-time last year said, “It was an honor for me to tell the audience about my late parents Lenore and Hank, who will always by guiding lights in my life. My mother’s poems speak of her profound personal observations, and worldly hope, and shed light on life’s many challenges and discoveries. Thank you, Hospice Giving Foundation, for bringing such a wonderful event to the community year after year!”

Hundreds of lights adorn the tree, each one dedicated in memory or in honor of a loved one. These lights also represent donations bringing compassion and hope to many patients and families facing a life-limiting illness. An acknowledgement card is sent to the family or person being honored or remembered and separates into a holiday tree ornament. Tree of Life tribute gifts can be made until December 31st.

The generosity of Tree of Life celebrants goes beyond shining a light for one person during this holiday season; it brings hospice and vital end-of-life care services to patients and families in Monterey and San Benito Counties throughout the year.
